IFPA / AC97 HEADER CONNECTION GUIDES

Diagram 1: The Intel Front Panel Audio (IFPA) / AC97 header consists of 9 pins arranged in 2 rows.
Diagram 2: The 2 pairs of pin for front and back Line-Out's are usually connected with jumpers, i.e. the pins are shorted if no front headphone port is installed. You need to remove the jumpers.
Diagram 3: Plug the connector onto the pin-outs in such that the color coded wires are correctly connected to the appropriate pins.

The NC and +5V pins are for reserved purpose. No connection to these pins are required.
In most cases, you do not have to shift the wires in the header connector, as these wires have been arranged to match perfectly with the IFPA / AC97 pinouts.

Your speakers should be plugged into the motherboard's speaker socket (line-out) located at the back of your PC. Once headphone is plugged on the front panel, your speakers will be automatically disconnected
